Inspirational Person Project Throughout your 9th grade classes, you have read and heard from your teachers about the accomplishments of many people. You have learned about scientists and mathematicians, musicians, artists, writers, and important historical figures. In newspaper and magazine articles you have also discovered that many people in our world today continue to work hard in their chosen fields to make our world a better place for all. In this project you will focus your research on one such inspirational person. Due: Monday, June 6, 2011 Grade: 100 Points
Requirements for Written Component
2- 3 double spaced, type written pages
* Introduction: Explain why you were attracted to examine this person’s life. Part of this discussion might include connections to your interests and goals. * Summary of the person’s life and major achievements. Focus on 3 or 4 outstanding accomplishments. * Transitions in the person’s life. Explain how the person moved successfully from one career phase to another. * Influential people in the person’s life. Consider the good as well as the bad. Explain how the person interacted with and learned from these people. * Include four significant quotes by or about the person. These should be direct quotes. These quotes will need parenthetical references. These can be included at any point in the report. * Conclusion: what you’ve learned from reading about this person. Draw connections to your experiences and your future. * Works Cited Page
Day 1 Open a Word Document ( will save under Burke Period 1 or Period 5 Inspirational Person folder) Create a Works Cited Page and three pages for notes Go to Destiny Homepage Click on Pathfinders --WVHS LMC WIKI, Click on "Pathfinders" page in the gold sidebar, then choose "Inspirational Person" Open Biography in Context and enter name of inspirational person Copy Citation of article into Works Cited Page Return to article and take notes under page 1 of notes
Day 2** Go to Yippy.comand enter name of inspirational person Check Biography Category on Left side Find two Websites for your person Open Noodletools & choose "Noodlebib Express" : Noodletools for website citation. Complete the steps for the citation. Copy and paste the citation on Works Cited Page Continue to take notes from the Websites and enter information on note pages 2 and 3
